DESIGN PROCESS: Project INKA from Concept to Opening

STUDIO BARBIS is a multi-disciplinary design studio founded by Patricia Barbis with over thirty years of experience designing top of the market interiors around the world.

By leveraging our experience in the areas of both Hospitality and High-End Residential, we bring a unique perspective to every project and informs our design approach each step of the way.

The firm is based in Miami and Lima with projects in the US and abroad. Our work is a mix of Private Residences, Restaurants, Hotels, Residential Buildings and Retail Experiences.

Rooted in Hospitality Design, we believe each project needs to start with a clear concept direction to have a coherent and successful design process. Our attention to detail carries through each element of the project, from carefully curated palettes to bespoke light fixtures and custom furniture pieces that reflect our initial concept narrative.

We develop one-of-a-kind interiors and experiences with keen understanding of the client’s needs and vision.

Studio Barbis is founded by Patricia Barbis, an interior designer who has overseen a variety of hospitality, retail, high-end residential and mixed-use projects around the world. Prior to launching Studio Barbis, Patricia led teams at Rockwellgroup and other top design firms in NY and Miami.

PATRICIA BARBIS, is an interior designer with significant experience in a variety of hospitality, retail, high-end residential and mixed-use projects around the world.

After graduating from interior design school in Lima and Miami, she opened her own design studio in Lima where she designed and built a great amount of commercial and residential projects for five years.

After those successful years in Peru, she took on a new challenge and moved to New York to pursue an MFA in Interior Design at the New York School of Interior Design. During a hotel design critique with some of the top design firms in New York, she was offered a position Rockwellgroup, which she accepted while still in school.

Over the next twenty years, Patricia worked at a number of top hospitality firms, including Tihany Design (New York), DMDG (New York) and RTKL (Miami). Her involvement in several hospitality and cruise ship projects around the world gave Patricia a strong foundation and experience to open Studio Barbis in 2016.

Studio Barbis was an immediate success, and the team was soon working on a number of hotel, restaurant, retail, multi-family and high-end residential projects in Australia, United Arab Emirates, USA and Latin America. In 2021, Patricia expanded Studio Barbis and relocated to Miami, where she continues to leverage her design experience and lead a collaborative, international team of design professionals.

Patricia also enjoys leading the next generation of designers and has had the chance to teach several Hospitality Design studios for the MFA program at The New York School of Interior Design, as well as a Summer Seminar on Restaurant Design at the Monterrey Center for Higher Learning of Design (CEDIM) in Monterrey, México, and design studios at The Art Institute of New York City.

Currently she resides in Miami, Florida with her husband and their rescue poodle, Rocky.

We have a core team of architects and interior designers that have been together since the beginning of Studio Barbis in Lima and another talented team in our Miami studio.
